Argentino de Chacarita4 - 3Atlético Villa Chiche

Argentino de Chacarita won a goal-filled thriller against CR Barracas at Chacarita’s ground, with a 4-3 scoreline that summed up everything about this eighth matchday of Primera I de CABA: uneven football, porous defences and two teams that chose to attack rather than sit back. Both line-ups started in a 4-4-2 with a balanced mentality on paper, but reality was considerably more chaotic. The home side were not superior throughout the match, but they knew how to capitalise on the moments when the visitors exposed themselves too much.

Leonel Solis, the midfielder aged just 16 who came through the ranks in Comodoro Rivadavia, became a nightmare for the visiting defence: he scored a goal and provided an assist with the ease of someone playing without pressure. Adriano Montero was also decisive from midfield with his goal and pass for another. In defence, Marcelo Marichal scored from left-back and Walter Murat completed the home side’s attacking contribution with his goal, although he picked up a yellow card for protesting. For Barracas, Rocco Castro, Bruno Varisco and Misael Zanini got their names on the scoresheet, but they lacked defensive solidity. Full-backs Felipe Zanforlin and Alexis Azqueta, the experienced 34-year-old veteran, provided an assist each without managing to contain Chacarita’s attacks.

The result could have been worse for the visitors, who at one point found themselves at a considerable disadvantage but fought back. However, that late reaction prevented them from turning around a match that Argentino de Chacarita controlled through well-orchestrated attacking spells. For the home team, the three points at home provide a confidence boost; for Barracas, the defeat raises questions about a defence that is giving away goals far too generously.
