About ELDT
ELDT (El Director Técnico) is a free online football manager where every club is run by a real person. You set the line-up, train the squad, bid on the transfer market, develop youth players and expand the stadium; the league is played live against other managers.
This page explains who makes it, how it is funded and how it works under the hood. If you need facts for an article, see the press room (in Spanish).
Who makes it and since when
ELDT is built by Matías Gemelli, an Argentine programmer from Buenos Aires, independently and with no team behind him: the match engine, the computer-run clubs, the economy and the transfer market. The company behind the game is LUCEMA SRL.
It started as a game to play with friends and launched in beta. After less than a year of development it opened to the public in May 2026, and since then it gets improvements almost every week based on what the community asks for: the roadmap is public.
Today the game has 5,456 clubs across 23 divisions.
How it is funded
Playing is free and there is no pay-to-win: no sporting advantage can be bought with real money. Development is funded by three things:
- Supporter, an optional pass with cosmetics and conveniences, with no sporting advantage (what it includes, in Spanish).
- ELDT Credits, for extra messages with the Manager’s Assistant and for the Kit Room (nicknames, names and faces of your players). They are cosmetic: they do not improve any player.
- Advertising on the home page and the blog. There are no ads inside the game.
How matches are calculated
Matches are simulated by an in-house engine, built for ELDT, using the squads, tactics and real condition of both teams. No result is scripted and nobody intervenes in a match by hand.
The engine is deterministic: with the same input data it gives the same result. What looks like luck in the commentary comes from there, not from a roll anyone can buy. There is no way to pay for the ball to go in.
Matches are played live, minute by minute, and each one stays published with its commentary (live matches, in Spanish).
Moderation and community
One account per person: multiple accounts are forbidden and lead to a ban, as do fraud or abuse. The full rules are in the Terms and conditions.
The Spanish-speaking community meets in a WhatsApp group (in Spanish) where ideas are proposed, bugs are reported and private leagues are set up. Much of what shipped this year came from those suggestions.
