“We lost, what do we do?”: how to end a bad run in ELDT
Three managers who couldn’t buy a win asked their Assistant for help. The answers are a useful guide for anyone going through a rough patch.

Every season has a spell when nothing goes right. You lose one match, then another, and before long you’re moving everything around without knowing what’s actually wrong. In ELDT, plenty of managers in that spot write to their Assistant, the helper who knows each club’s squad, cash and table.
We pulled together three real chats with managers in poor form, without their names, because the replies are useful as a guide for anyone.
"We couldn’t win, what do we doooo?"
One manager wrote that, in capitals and with a few extra letters, after yet another defeat. The Assistant calmed things down:
"It wasn’t a lack of effort: it was fatigue and poor finishing up front. Right now the job is to get organised, not panic."
The diagnosis was spot on. Six of his starters were carrying more than 75 fatigue, several were close to 90, and his best striker was absolutely done. On top of that, the first-choice goalkeeper was injured.
The recipe:
- Heavy rotation: take out anyone in the XI above 70 fatigue.
- Secure the goal with the fit backup.
- One signing that fits the budget, not three that don’t quite stretch.
"To break the bad run, do heavy rotation this week, shore up the goal, and if you’re buying, go for the signing that actually fits your budget."
"We lost, it can’t happen again"
In another chat with the same manager, the Assistant reminded him the table wasn’t as bad as it felt:
"Yes, you lost, but you’re not far away: you’re eighth and the next opponent is fourteenth. The key is to stop the slump now, not rip everything up at once."
The tactical advice mattered just as much as the physical side: if the team is tired, there’s no point trying to go blow for blow, but rather to play with more structure, with medium pressing and without splitting the side open.
"I’m losing every match"
The third case was more serious. One manager asked for help "to start winning" and the Assistant said something nobody wants to hear, but it was needed:
"The problem isn’t just bad luck: you’re short of quality, and on top of that the next opponent is stronger than you."
The numbers backed it up: 13 goals in 29 matches, a weak midfield with no cover, and the two most important players both with more than 80 fatigue.
The suggestion was a two-step plan:
- Now: take the exhausted players out of the XI, keep things tight and don’t go charging in against a stronger side.
- In the market: don’t spend the cash on three flimsy stopgaps, but go for one strong signing, a first-choice number 9 or a midfielder who can make the team tick.
What they all have in common
Those three chats leave the same lesson. In ELDT, a bad run is rarely just bad luck:
- Fatigue matters. A starter on 85 fatigue performs far worse than a fresh substitute. Rotate.
- Don’t change everything at once. Spot the main problem and attack that first.
- Buy well, not a lot. One good signing is worth more than three mediocre ones.
- Adapt your approach to the opponent. If they’re better and you’re tired, stay organised. If you’re stronger, go and impose yourself.
And if you don’t know where to start, ask your Assistant: it looks at your squad, your cash and your next opponent before answering.
