Club Deportivo Veteranos de Malvinas2 - 0Federación Mataderos

Deportivo Caballito Veteranos took full advantage of home advantage to seal an undisputed victory over Federación Mataderos on matchday 13 of Primera I — GBA Norte. The 2-0 scoreline accurately reflects what happened on the pitch: a side that controlled the tempo, that did not rush, that knew when to press and when to ease off. The visitors arrived with the same tactical set-up —balanced 4-4-2— but lacked that extra edge in their attacking play that would have allowed them to trouble the home defence.

The goals came thanks to two footballers in the best form of their careers. Daniel Huber, a 28-year-old midfielder who has spent five seasons at Caballito after an almost accidental arrival, opened the scoring with a tidy display that earned a rating above 7.2. Diogo Pacheco, the 24-year-old striker, sealed it with composure; he also posted 7.2 in his performance. At the back, Pablo Hoyos was a wall in the centre of the pitch with his 29 years and working-class neighbourhood experience, while central defender Galo Schulz backed up the defensive work with seriousness. On the left side, Ronaldo Bonomi —still just a 19-year-old youngster— showed composure in his marking and anticipation. Federación Mataderos barely made a nuisance of themselves. Lucio Rebollo, their 21-year-old striker, found no space. Walter Bernardini picked up a yellow card for excess enthusiasm without translating that into any real danger, while midfielder Máximo Medero tried but failed to break through the home block.

For Caballito, three points that strengthen their campaign in the competition. For Mataderos, a fixture that made clear the difference between a side with a settled rhythm and another still trying to find its pace. The hosts went away satisfied; the visitors, with work still to do.
