Pibes Retiro1 - 1Cooperativa San Telmo

Pibes Retiro and Cooperativa San Telmo shared the points in a draw with no major surprises, leaving both with a sense of a missed opportunity. The 1-1 was the fair result of a match where the balanced approaches of both managers produced an even contest, with no spell of clear superiority from either side. Federico Arechabaleta opened the scoring for the home side with a goal that reflected his knack for turning up in key moments, while Jeremías Trevisan levelled things from the visitors’ midfield. Two forwards of different standing but with the same hunger: Quique Vicari for the home side and Faustino Pirelli for the visitors hovered around the box without being able to finish with precision when the chances came.

The match was decided more by collective work than by individual flashes. Nicolás Cadel, at just 20, showed energy down the left flank for Pibes Retiro and finished his display with an assist that might have counted for more in different circumstances, though he also picked up a yellow for his overenthusiasm. For the visitors, Liam Baldini, another 17-year-old youngster with promising ratings, tried to make a difference from midfield but control of the match was never settled. Axel Saavedra, the 31-year-old veteran in the home side’s back line, did his job without any unnecessary exposure, while Faustino Aguirre at right-back for the visitors had to stay alert against the home side’s left-sided attacks.

The draw leaves Pibes Retiro unable to pull away in the table, while Cooperativa San Telmo rescue a point away from home that carries value but also leaves the feeling they were close to taking all three. For the next matchday, both will need to be more decisive in the boxes, because at this level chances do not come often and Arechabaleta and Trevisan will not always be there to make up for tactical errors.
