Federación Constitución2 - 1Mitre Sport

Federación Constitución took the three points in a match that featured more nerves than football. On the neighbourhood pitch, against Liga Recoleta, the home side won 2-1 in a fixture where both teams stuck to conservative shapes: two 4-4-2s that prioritised order over adventure. The result was fair on the whole, though the win came with the precision of a side that knows when to attack without overexposing itself. It was one of those matches where defensive solidity weighed more heavily than attacking inspiration.

The men of Federación Constitución based their game on midfield consistency. Lorenzo Carrizo, the 26-year-old striker from Mendoza, was switched on for the full ninety minutes, moving between the lines with the intelligence of someone who understands where the spaces are. His 7.7 rating translated into constant presence and the ability to create danger. Xavier Rizzo in defence did his job solidly from the centre of the back line: at 23, these tight matches are the laboratory where experience is forged. On the left, Misael Buffoli provided the width needed to unbalance the opposition, while Stefano Gómez, just a 18-year-old youngster, showed there is a future at right-back, with the versatility of someone who can use both feet without thinking about it.

Liga Recoleta arrived with intent but without the clarity required of an away side. Xavier Artola, the 36-year-old veteran who scored one of his team's goals, is the kind of midfielder who remains dangerous because of his accumulated experience. At that age, when many players disappear from the map, Artola keeps finding cracks in rival defences. Alfredo Lizarazo in central midfield did his bit with an assist, though he also picked up a yellow card in a match where contact was a constant. The visitors' defence never quite shut up shop properly and that cost them dearly in the home side's forward transitions.

Without minute-by-minute details of how the goals went in, what was clear is that Federación Constitución took their chances more efficiently than their rivals. Two goals to one over the visitors sums up that narrow difference that, in these tactical and tight matches, decides who takes the points home. Liga Recoleta had chances but lacked that touch of precision in the final metres, that small margin that separates the winners from those who leave with heads bowed. The home side defended with concentration in the phases where Recoleta pressed, and when they had space they used it without any fuss.

A typical mid-table match where points are earned through work, defensive adjustment and making the most of the details. Federación Constitución claimed a victory that adds to the fight on matchday 19 of Primera L de CABA. Nothing spectacular, but that is football: sometimes the most solid wins make the least noise.
