RAYAN C.F.2 - 1Vet. Balvanera

Patriotas Constitución took a deserved victory in a match where both sides arrived with similar approaches but differences in execution. The 2-1 against Vet. Balvanera at home, on matchday 5 of Primera H - GBA Oeste, reflected the home side’s dominance without the visitors ever being completely out of the game. The goals made the difference on an afternoon where individual defensive mistakes proved decisive. Patriotas Constitución made the most of their clear-cut moments; Vet. Balvanera had their chance but did not finish it with the necessary efficiency.

The 4-4-2 set-up was chosen by both sides, which produced a match of evenly matched intensity with no major tactical surprises. Patriotas managed the tempo better, pressed in midfield and found space down the wings. The home defence had to stretch itself at key moments in the second half, when Vet. Balvanera pushed hard for the equaliser after their goal. The difference was the composure shown by the home side to protect their lead and avoid panic. The full-backs were key figures: Patriotas Constitución used them as sources of attacking play while they also kept things secure at the back.

For Vet. Balvanera, this result hurts more because of the feeling of a match let slip than because of a catastrophic performance. They had a few chances but lacked precision. The visitors were never far from the result, but nor did they do enough to take anything from the Oeste. Patriotas Constitución add three vital points in the group and strengthen their position in the battle; the Balvanera side will have to look again at why they lacked the cutting edge that left them out of a manageable match.
