Estrella Agronomía and Cooperativa Abasto shared the points in a match that unfolded within expected bounds for two teams that prioritised balance over risk. At the Agronomía stadium, with both sides opting for 4-4-2 structures and conservative mentalities, the 1-1 draw reflected an equality that lasted the full ninety minutes. There were no tactical shocks: two teams who understood that keeping themselves safe was the best strategy, leaving little room for surprises.
Ronaldo Ponce was the man who put the home side ahead. The eighteen-year-old midfielder, born in Tigre where he grew up playing in tight spaces, showed the clarity that defines him on his debut this matchday. With a rating of 7.2, Ponce showed he can be a useful presence in midfield even against teams that give nothing away. His goal was celebrated by the home supporters, though without over-the-top rejoicing: they knew there was still time left and that Cooperativa Abasto were not a team to leave behind on the scoreboard. Yago Lucero, the left-back of thirty-six years old who brings all the experience of Comodoro Rivadavia in his legs, took an active part in Estrella’s attacking play and his assist was recorded in the statistics as a decisive contribution.
Cooperativa Abasto’s response came without delay. Cristian Basaldua, the twenty-seven-year-old centre-back who keeps the boots inherited from his father at home, rose in the box to level things up. With a rating of 7.2, Basaldua found the net in an action that restored hope to the visitors. It was not a goal for the ages, but in matches like this, where teams sit deep and play for openings, goals come from those chances that appear in the six-yard box. Cooperativa Abasto relied on the tactical order of Chino Turi, the thirty-four-year-old holding midfielder who from midfield kept the lines together and reduced the spaces where Agronomía might build dangerous play.
Maxi Scarpinato, Cooperativa Abasto’s right winger with a rating of 7.2, was constantly marked throughout the match after picking up a yellow card that forced him to be more cautious in his actions. In the visitors’ defence, Raúl Marín and Santino Azkue took turns in the job of containing Agronomía’s attacking left flank, both left-backs who completed solid defensive duties. The match ended with neither side finding the arguments to take the win. It was an honest contest, with no false drama or pretence of epic grandeur: two teams that understood the context of matchday 18 and decided not to expose themselves unnecessarily. In Primera L - GBA Norte, sometimes the point is worth it.
