Cooperativa Abasto and Estrella Agronomía sealed a stalemate at the home stadium, on an afternoon where both squads preferred caution to risk. The 0-0 that went up on the scoreboard was a reflection of two sides who came to the pitch with identical line-ups, 4-4-2, and a balanced mindset that in practice translated into little attacking commitment. Neither side allowed itself the necessary transgression to break a draw that, more than earned, was accepted as the lesser evil.
Theo Álvarez, the home goalkeeper, 23, with those hands he inherited from nights on the forgotten pitches of the south, had no major scares. The same went for Néstor Aranzeta in the away goal, a 21-year-old from Mendoza who was barely tested over the ninety minutes. Alfredo Iturbe, the 28-year-old winger who wears his scar as a badge of honour, was booked with a yellow card without ever becoming a real threat. Bastian Lima, the left-sided midfielder who handles the ball with an uncanny naturalness from Rosario, had space but failed to make it count. Loly Venturini, the away right-back with a scarred-up look of his own, did the job well enough in defence. Yair Tassone, the 19-year-old striker who still carries his inherited boots like a talisman, never managed to get close to goal with any real clarity.
The match was little more than a formality, with both midfield lines cancelling each other out without any spark and the attacks always arriving without conviction. For Cooperativa Abasto, this draw leaves a bittersweet taste at home; for Estrella Agronomía, a point salvaged that at least avoids defeat. On matchday 3 of Primera L de GBA Norte, while the table is still fresh, neither side moved forward. Nor did either side fall back.
