Futbol Puchito1 - 0AA Villa del Parque Reserva

Argentino de Versalles took a victory that they knew how to defend with the tactical solidity that marks out teams that play without any pretence of flair. Against AA Villa del Parque Reserva, on matchday 20 of Primera L de GBA Sur, the home side imposed their balanced 4-4-2 against a visiting team who arrived with the same shape but less finishing ability. The final 1-0 sums up an afternoon in which both sides looked for defensive order before offensive adventure, a tight match that ultimately tipped in Versalles’ favour by the smallest of margins.

The game unfolded on level terms in the first half, with Argentino de Versalles controlling proceedings without suffocating them. Chacho Gutiérrez, the 21-year-old midfielder with a rating of 7.7, was the one who managed the tempo from the middle, distributing with assurance and winning duels that allowed the home side to stop Villa del Parque gaining ground. On the left flank, Ismael Bovo carried out his role as a holding full-back without fuss, while in attack the right wing became the most active area. Héctor Krawczyk, the 36-year-old winger who still retains the spark of his best years with a rating of 7.4, looked to stretch play when the pattern allowed, though Villa del Parque matched up well through their full-backs.

León Hoyos, the 29-year-old striker from Comodoro Rivadavia, was the one who found the net at the decisive moment of the match. The details of that goal were not recorded in any depth in the match notes, but the truth is that Hoyos — with a rating of 7.2 — was in the right place when the chance came. A goal that proved a turning point: Villa del Parque were forced to attack more directly, exposing their defence, but they did not have in Coco Cazón, their central midfielder of just 19, the attacking quality needed to create sustained danger. Cazón, with a rating of 6.6, moved the ball around but without the necessary bite. Augusto Riquelme, the visitors’ right winger, also worked hard without finding space in which to truly trouble them.

Dylan Yedlin, the young centre-back for Argentino de Versalles, only 17 but with a calmness beyond his years, read the visitors’ attacking movements well. With his 7.3 rating and a yellow card that did not disturb his concentration, the patagonian youngster was solid in the challenge. His partner in defence and the whole home set-up opted to maintain their organisation, knowing that a narrow lead in this kind of fixture, when the opposition lacks attacking clarity, is enough.

In the second half the match became even more scrappy. Villa del Parque failed to produce alternatives that could put Versalles under real pressure, and the home side simply managed their lead sensibly. A victory without brilliance, built on tactical discipline and the proper execution of the basic tasks. In Primera L de GBA Sur, where teams with real ball circulation are thin on the ground, this kind of win plays a decisive role in the fight for the top spots.
