Match report
Argentino de Versalles came away with a deserved victory in Villa del Parque, in a match where both sides set up with symmetrical formations but the visitors knew how to make the most of their chances with greater composure. The final 2-1 neatly sums up the story: AA Villa del Parque Reserva had its moments, even going ahead through Gonzalo Ruiz, but could not withstand the pressure of a side that came to compete from the first minute without any tactical speculation.
The home defence was exposed in two key moments. Roberto Chávez, the visitors’ right-back born in Tandil, used his defensive versatility to get on the scoresheet in one of those actions that decide tight matches. Chacho Gutiérrez, the 21-year-old central midfielder who grew up in Patagonia, also scored and showed solidity in the middle of the pitch, where Indio Rivero, at 28, was a reference point in the circulation of the ball. Tiziano Fernández, the home side’s left winger, just 20 years old, set up Ruiz but could do no more on a night when the balanced 4-4-2 system was not enough to see them through. Ismael Bovo in defence was a constant nuisance for the home attacks and picked up a yellow card that reflected the intensity of the game.
The result leaves Argentino de Versalles on a run in Primera L of GBA Sur, while Villa del Parque Reserva will have to review its defensive mechanisms before the next away fixture. It was not a match of glaring mistakes but of efficiency: whoever took their chances went through in the standings. That is Primera L football.
