Match report
Mutual Abasto took a win it knew how to manage intelligently away from home, beating El Porvenir de San Telmo in a match where both sides set up with similar systems but where efficiency was the difference. The 1-0 result fits what was seen on the pitch: a tight contest, with few concessions, where Geremías Barba's goal ultimately proved decisive on an afternoon when the hosts could not find the gaps to trouble the visiting defence consistently.
El Porvenir tried to play their game with a balanced structure but lacked depth in the build-up. Aaron Guevara, the attacking midfielder from Mendoza, just nineteen years old, had moments of brilliance but could not break down the visitors' shape. Kiki Marichal, who was booked, tried to create down the left without much success. For Mutual Abasto, the full-backs were key: Benjamín Santos on the left and youngster Tobías Baldini on the right did a solid job in both covering and pushing forward. Lionel Quaglia in goal made safe interventions. Joaco Borgia, the thirty-one-year-old striker with astillero experience, was the attacking focal point who helped sustain the pressure without too many scares.
The goal came almost unexpectedly when Geremías Barba, the seventeen-year-old centre-back from the youth ranks, pushed on and finished with precision. It was the reward for a visiting defence that never lost concentration at any point. For El Porvenir, the shortfall was plain: Nazareno De Angelis in the defensive hub did what he could at thirty-three, but his team-mates could not create sustained danger. The match was effectively settled early and Mutual Abasto took the tie, leaving the zone with three valuable points in their campaign.
