Match report
Sportivo Once Norte showed no mercy on matchday 15 of Primera I GBA Oeste. Against Vet. Saavedra, the home side produced direct, effective football that ended in a 3-0 thrashing, the kind that leaves little to analyse and plenty to lament in the visiting dressing room. With both teams set up in a balanced 4-4-2, the difference was not in the formations but in their execution: Once Norte knew how to exploit the spaces, while Vet. Saavedra could not find a way to hurt them.
The goals came from the midfielders. Jeremías Bernasconi, that 30-year-old striker raised on Bahía Blanca’s dirt pitches, opened the scoring with the confidence of someone who knows his moment has arrived. Then it was Toño Weinberg and Beto Paz, both from midfield, who put the match to bed before there could be any story to tell. Thiago Mancini, the 22-year-old right midfielder, was a constant attacking nuisance, proving that the inherited boots he wears work better than well. In goal, Damián Muñoz had little to do, but when called upon he responded with assurance. For the visitors, Maximiliano Vecchi and Walter Gordillo tried to react, but without the space Vet. Saavedra had hoped to find. Lorenzo Valsecchi, the barely 21-year-old Brazilian midfielder, got lost in the tactical mêlée and could not be the balancing presence his team needed.
A one-sided thrashing with no suspense is almost a sentence without appeal. For Once Norte, the victory brings breathing room in the table and reaffirms their home prowess. For Vet. Saavedra, there is the bitter taste of an afternoon when they simply were not there, nor anywhere close. With this result, Once Norte maintain their ambitions in the division, while the visitors will have to rethink how to compete when they play away.
