Deportivo Villa Crespo Veteranos and Nueva Estrella Almagro shared the points in a match that neatly summed up the state of matchday 13 in the Primera L de CABA: two balanced sides who found no way to hurt each other. The 0-0 was fair, though perhaps a little drab for the spectators. Both set out in symmetrical 4-4-2 shapes and even mentalities, which led to a contest where space was at a premium and clear chances were nowhere to be seen. Villa Crespo played at home without the urgency of a team that needed to win, while the visitors also did not take too many risks in search of victory.
Walter Mazur, at right-back for the home side, was solid enough in his defensive role with a rating of 7.2, though he could do little when the ball was not coming his way. For Nueva Estrella Almagro, Augusto Zurita tried things down the left but without the support needed to create real danger; the Mendoza winger finished with 6.9, a figure that reflects his effort without reward. In midfield, Pancho De Santis of Villa Crespo moved to link play but also failed to find the breaking routes he was after. At the back, Horacio Saborido showed his trademark veteran craft in zone marking, winning duels but without needing to unleash his more aggressive defensive repertoire. The visitors' defence, with Cristian Altuna, completed a back three where the number of headed clearances won was almost nil simply because nobody dared to play long.
The draw leaves Villa Crespo with one more point in their tally, though without the satisfaction of having made the most of home advantage. For Nueva Estrella Almagro, the result has a different taste: a trip to CABA with nothing to show for it, though they also failed to take all three points. The next matchday will tell whether either of these two sides finds the spark they lacked today.
