AA Villa Urquiza Reserva2 - 1Aurora de Parque Patricios

Villa Urquiza claimed a deserved home win against Aurora de Parque Patricios in a match where both teams set up in the same way: a back four, a holding midfield and two forwards up front. The 2-1 scoreline accurately reflected what happened on the pitch: a tight encounter with little space, where the hosts made the most of their opportunities and the visitors went home empty-handed after pulling one back late on. It was not a match for the history books, but it was functional, with both teams understanding what they wanted to do from the very first minute.

The goals came from the defences. Raúl Viva, the eighteen-year-old youngster who only dared to take football seriously at thirteen, opened the scoring for Villa Urquiza with a cross that found his head in the box. Shortly afterwards, Tomi Cazón, another of the academy youngsters who plays at left-back, extended the lead. Aurora replied through Matías Arratia, "El Muro", who is around thirty-two and has spent his entire life in football, scoring a goal that added excitement in the final minutes but came too late. Manuel Saposnik, the 29-year-old Brazilian forward who landed in Buenos Aires almost by chance years ago, had his moments but was not decisive. Cayetano Vallejo, the veteran 37-year-old left winger who started out on a muddy pitch after a friendly, did his job defensively.

The difference was efficiency: Villa Urquiza converted their chances and Aurora did not. The visitors pressed in the second half, but the hosts managed the tempo well. There were no great tactical masterstrokes or brilliant moves, just two teams who understand their system, who run, defend and fight for every ball. Villa Urquiza picked up three vital points in the battle near the top of the Primera I de CABA table. Aurora, meanwhile, leave wondering why they could not make the most of their opportunities.
