Match report

El Vencedor de Montserrat brushed aside General Güemes de Balvanera with a solid display in the West, winning two to nil in a fixture where the home side controlled the tempo without needing to produce spectacular football. Both squads lined up in identical 4-4-2 shapes, but it was El Vencedor who knew how to make the most of their clear-cut moments with greater ruthlessness. The goals came naturally in the flow of the game, with the visitors unable to find effective answers to a side that managed the pace with relative comfort.

Ramón Montoya and Simón Zuccotti were the men to get the score sheet moving for the home side, showing the threat that was missing from the Balvanera outfit. The Tucumán midfielder, just twenty years old, showed maturity in his central role, while Zuccotti, with the experience of twenty-five springs, took his chances with assurance. At the back, Ethan Caetani, the veteran centre-half of thirty-three with the weight of experience of someone who has seen it all, also contributed in defence while helping build attacks. Gabriel Bandiera completed the job up front, creating chances that were eventually converted. For the visitors, Octavio Klein in the holding role and Tomás Frutos in midfield did what they could to stem the tide, though without enough cutting edge. Román Mejia at left-back tried to trigger a few transitions, but the side never managed to knit together sustained pressure that would really have put them close to the goal guarded by El Vencedor.

The match was a reflection of two teams that did not find any extraordinary tactical gears, but where the home side made the most of home advantage to impose a controlled and effective rhythm. General Güemes left Montserrat without clear ideas and with unfinished business, while El Vencedor add three points that keep them in the hunt for the top spots in Primera L in the West.
