C. y Barrio Retiro swept aside N. Estrella Flores emphatically in the south of the metropolitan area, winning 3-1 in a match where both sides’ balanced set-up ended up favouring the home side. It was a comfortable win built on solid foundations: organised defence, quick transitions and two forwards who found gaps in the visitors’ structure. N. Estrella Flores arrived with similar intentions in their approach, but the execution was uneven and the defensive mistakes cost them dearly with minutes still left to respond.
Kiki Wieczorek was the spearhead of the home attack, scoring one and setting up another in a display that would merit even greater remembrance were it not for that yellow card which affects him heading into the next matchdays. The thirty-two-year-old Bahía Blanca striker showed he still has plenty to offer at this level: movement, smart positioning, the ability to link up with team-mates. In midfield, C. y Barrio Retiro controlled the tempo without excessive pressure. Diego Verde in goal had a quiet afternoon, though an attentive one. Jeremías Bruschi on the right did his defensive job without any major alarms. At the other end, Marcelo Zappa grabbed a consolation goal for N. Estrella Flores, showing the craft that marks him out as an attacking midfielder, but it was not enough. Claudio Altzaga provided an assist in midfield, though his 6.5 rating reflects a fairly flat display from the visitors’ holding midfielder.
The match showed that N. Estrella Flores came in on the back foot, perhaps banking on the counter-attack. It did not work. C. y Barrio Retiro took advantage without needing to take excessive risks. The three points at home keep them in the hunt for the early places in Primera L - GBA Oeste. For the visitors, this defeat is a bucket of cold water and forces them to review their defensive performance before the next away trip.
