Defensores de San Cristóbal Centro took a deserved win from the pitch of Real Mataderos Reservas in a match where both sides put forward similar setups, but the visitors were sharper at the decisive moments. The final 2-1 neatly sums up what happened on the pitch: a tight contest, with no major tactical differences between balanced 4-4-2 shapes, where the details made the difference in Primera L de GBA Oeste. Cesar Argento, the 34-year-old Brazilian striker who knows these neighbourhood mazes and dirt pitches well, scored for the home side with a 7.2 rating, showing that experience remains a useful weapon. But it was not enough.
The match was decided by the visitors' attacking efficiency and a defence that knew when to close ranks. Pepe Dabrowski, the Porto Alegre striker with a 7.7 rating, was a constant presence in the Mataderos area and had a big hand in the win. Zacarías Krüger, the 29-year-old Mendoza midfielder with a 7.5 rating, controlled the switches of play from the right with good judgement, moving the ball in a way that allowed San Cristóbal Centro to circulate possession without rushing. In defence, 33-year-old Bastian Zucconi held firm at right-back while Kevin Leyva in the centre was solid with his 7.4. Rodrigo Trotta in goal, that 34-year-old from Comodoro Rivadavia with no tales of glory but a 7.5 rating, saved what he had to save.
For Mataderos, there was the bitter taste of losing at home. Dylan Pessina, the 24-year-old Rosario striker with a 6.5 rating, provided an assist but could not capitalise on the chances he had. The home side had openings, but San Cristóbal Centro were more clinical in front of goal. So the visitors take three points that keep them in the thick of the chase on matchday 7, while Mataderos Reservas will have to rethink what they lacked in a match that, although tight, slipped through their fingers.
