Match report

Defensores de Ituzaingó took a hard-fought victory against Sportivo San Miguel Oeste on matchday one of Primera E, with a goal that settled a match in which both teams played with tidy lines but without too much attacking sparkle. The home side asserted its home advantage from the off, although without producing an overwhelming display. San Miguel Oeste arrived in Ituzaingó intent on keeping things level, and they managed it for a good part of the fixture. The four defenders on each side did their job, especially Lautaro Molina at the heart of the home team, who at thirty-two showed the experience of someone who has been playing in these leagues for years.

Defensores' goal was the result of constant pressure that finally got its reward. Tato Zubeldía, the sixteen-year-old youngster who arrived almost by chance at the club, was the one who scored and showed why he is generating excitement at the institution. For the visitors, Fernando Quiroga was booked in a match where Sportivo struggled to create clear chances. Midfield was the area where much of the fixture was decided, with Hugo Acosta moving the pieces for the San Miguel Oeste side, without managing to find the necessary depth. Alejandro Caruso was also booked for the home side, in a game where discipline mattered more than creativity.

The ending was fair. Defensores de Ituzaingó knew how to manage the key moments of the match better, found the goal at an opportune time and controlled things without too much trouble in the closing stages. Sportivo San Miguel Oeste did not deserve to lose by a landslide, but they also did not create enough to change the result. A winning start for the home side in a league where these three points are always valuable.
