Match report

Defensores de Rafael Castillo prevailed against Atlético Hurlingham on the opening matchday of Primera E GBA Oeste with a win that reflected the tactical balance of both sides. Both opted for 4-4-2 formations with an even mentality, producing a tight match in which imprecision and resolute defending took centre stage. The goal from Chino Ortiz, a 23-year-old winger who enjoyed an inspired night, proved decisive for the home side. It was not a comprehensive victory, but rather a match in which the Rafael Castillo team took its chances while comfortably keeping the visitors' attempts at bay.

Defensores' defensive pairing performed solidly. Eduardo Bianchi, a 22-year-old centre-back with a good reading of the game, stayed alert and made very few errors despite being booked during the match. Gabriel Martínez at right-back provided the key assist for the goal and showed attacking judgement without neglecting his defensive duties. Pepe Romero, a veteran 28-year-old midfielder, provided security on the left and was a reliable custodian of the middle of the pitch. Miguel Bastianelli in attack did his job without shining too brightly, but allowed the home structure to remain compact.

Atlético Hurlingham had no clear answers. Gustavo Conti, an experienced 31-year-old right winger, tried to create danger but found himself effectively marked. Marcelo Quiroga, a veteran 32-year-old centre-back, was booked after showing too much defensive enthusiasm. Ignacio Echeverría on the visitors' left flank failed to break through the home side's shape. It was a contest in which the home team demonstrated better attacking circulation without needing to play eye-catching football. A deserved victory that allows Defensores de Rafael Castillo to begin the campaign with three points, the result of collective defensive work and coolness in taking their chances.
