Sportivo Francisco Álvarez
Match report
Sportivo Marcos Paz did not spring any major surprises on Sportivo Francisco Álvarez in the first matchday of the Primera E of GBA Oeste. The home side were more solid at the back, more clinical in attack, and that was enough for a 2-0 scoreline that reflects the difference in performance between the two sides without any drama. With identical 4-4-2 set-ups and balanced mindsets, the match was decided by details: two goals that came at moments when the visitors were unable to respond.
Ignacio Castro, the 23-year-old left-sided midfielder, was the man who opened the scoring. His performance left its mark on the pitch, adding the goal and an assist that underlined his good command of the attacking game. For his part, Mario Ortega, the 30-year-old defensive midfielder born in Comodoro Rivadavia, also scored and helped to shore up the midfield with the responsibilities his experience demands. Maximiliano Domínguez, the 32-year-old Brazilian striker who has clocked up the miles in Argentine football, was a focal point in attack and provided the movement Marcos Paz needed to create space. Joaquín Lautaro at right-back fulfilled his role without fuss, while Martín Aguirre in the centre of defence organised the back line with the assurance that comes with being thirty-two.
Francisco Álvarez found no way to trouble them. Ricardo Quiroga, their 25-year-old striker, had no space to do damage. Pepe Reyes, the 36-year-old attacking midfielder who is winding down his career, could not give the visitors' play any pace. Lucas Núñez, a young right-back of just 18, was cautioned and laid bare his side's defensive difficulties. It was a match in which Marcos Paz took what they came for without major complications, while the visitors head home pointless and with the job of regrouping for the next one.
