Villa Soldati beat La Boca 3-2 in a cracking, goal-filled match where both sides went out to play without any caution. The 4-4-2 shape chosen by both managers promised an open contest, and Villa Soldati’s pitch delivered exactly that: a match in which nobody held anything back. The difference was made by the goals from Arrillaga and Moya, both with a 7.7 rating, who turned up at the right moments to tip the balance. The right-back from Comodoro Rivadavia scored one and set up another; the Tucumán striker, who arrived in Buenos Aires years ago on a country bus, also stood out with a goal and an assist. Old Benicio Avanzi, with his 37 years and a 7.7 rating, put his body on the line in defence where it was needed, while Hector Szymanski in goal did his job without any scares.
On La Boca’s side, Coco Zanini, from Tandil, shone and showed why he has an 8.4 rating by scoring twice. The 21-year-old youngster was virtually unstoppable at times in the match, something that Zacarías Villar, the young Uruguayan centre-half of just 17 years, could not contain all the time. Cataldo Bartolini, the Brazilian midfielder aged 18 who almost by chance ended up at the club, was booked but provided football in the middle.
The win gives Villa Soldati some breathing room in the Primera L of GBA Norte, though it was far from comfortable: they had to suffer to take the three points. La Boca left with the feeling they could have taken something more, especially with Zanini’s goals, but the home defenders gave them no respite in the closing minutes. It was one of those matches where both sides gave everything on the pitch, but Villa Soldati knew how to see it out better when it mattered most.
