Match report

Sportivo Once Norte showed no mercy at home. With a resounding 3-0 win over Aurora de Villa Devoto, the hosts demonstrated why they are becoming established in Primera I of GBA Oeste. Both teams set up in the same way on the pitch: a balanced 4-4-2, with no desire to take excessive risks, but Sportivo knew how to make the most of their chances while the visitors became increasingly demoralised as the match progressed. The difference was not just on the scoreboard, but also in their precision at key moments.

Valentino Bevilacqua scored one of those goals and also provided assists from the central midfield position, demonstrating the ability that has been honed in the club’s academy. Toño Weinberg, the 29-year-old attacking midfielder born in Resistencia, also found the net, as well as creating play for his team-mates. Ruso Rojas, aged 31 and with the experience of having joined the club almost by chance years ago, completed the rout efficiently. Aurora barely threatened; goalkeeper Noé Bordón had little to do, although his 6.6 rating reflects how little he was tested. Leonardo Mata in midfield and Santino Sotomayor at full-back tried to contain them, but without success. The visiting squad, younger on average but lacking their opponents’ cohesion, faded as the minutes passed.

For Sportivo Once Norte, this victory strengthens their fight for the top places. For Aurora, the blow is severe: they not only conceded three goals but also exposed their defensive shortcomings. In football at this level, where the margins are narrow, a thrashing like this hurts beyond the points lost.
