Atlético Palermo Hollywood FC came away from La Plata with a comfortable 3-1 win that left no doubt about who controlled the match on matchday 3 of Primera I GBA Oeste. Central de Belgrano R El Barrio had their moments, even managing to score through Rolando Stankovic, the 26-year-old central defender from Bahía who took the initiative to push forward and get among the forwards, but it was not enough to halt the visitors’ momentum. The teams set up similarly, both in a 4-4-2 with a balanced mentality, but Palermo Hollywood found the space at just the right moments to wrap up the match.
Aaron López was the man of the match, a 32-year-old central defender who led the visitors’ attack with two goals of his own — unusual for a defender, but revealing of the control his team exerted in midfield. Alongside him, Julián Vitale helped build a solid defence, while the wingers, with Nene Triboldi on the left, posed a constant threat in transition. Luciano Cerda, the 19-year-old goalkeeper, had very little to do in the second half. In midfield, Uriel Liebman appeared in the box to seal the victory with the third, while Central could barely react. Stankovic scored his goal but was left isolated, without genuine support to trouble the opposition defence consistently.
For Central de Belgrano R El Barrio, this hurts more because of how the match was played than because of the result itself. The home side were never able to impose their rhythm or create clear chances, and whenever they tried, the visitors’ defence closed down the spaces well. Palermo Hollywood leave La Plata with three precious points, while the Belgrano side will have to rethink their approach to avoid repeating this kind of performance.
