Patriotas Almagro3 - 0Prov. Flores

Patriotas Almagro showed no mercy at home. With a clear and well-organised display, they thrashed Provincia de Flores 3-0 on matchday 12 of Primera I de GBA Oeste, in a match where the home side prevailed without needing to produce spectacular football, but with an efficiency that the visitors simply could not contain. Both teams started with similar systems, two balanced 4-4-2s, but the difference lay in Patriotas’ ability to execute their plans, while Provincia de Flores faded without finding any answers.

The home side had tactical clarity from the very first minute. Aaron Valentini, the 37-year-old central midfielder who has spent his entire career in Greater Buenos Aires, was decisive in controlling the game, covering spaces and winning positions without fuss, allowing the team to breathe in defence. Christian Bandini on the left and Toño Baroli as a left winger created the first problems for a Provincia de Flores side that could not contain them. Patriotas’ attacking duo clicked: Yoel Baldelli scored one goal, while Valentino Hidalgo, the centre-back aged just 16, also made his mark on the scoresheet. That was one of the curious details of the afternoon: a centre-back scoring, a sign of a team dominating so thoroughly that it could afford such luxuries. Lolo Vegas and Marcos Lima tried to contain things on the left in the visitors’ defence, but their efforts proved insufficient against the home side’s dynamism.

Provincia de Flores never managed to put together a reaction that genuinely caused concern. Beto Aranguren did his job at right-back, but it was not enough on an afternoon when the visitors lacked consistent attacking ideas. Aaron Valentini ended up being booked but was one of the main figures of the match. The result magnified the differences between two squads with similar intentions but different execution. Patriotas take the three points with the comfort of a side that never suffered as much as it might have. Provincia de Flores return home with some uncomfortable questions.
