Match report

Villa del Parque made good use of their away status to take three points from Villa Lugano in a match where both sides kept their tactical balance but not their attacking sharpness. The two 4-4-2 shapes produced a tight contest, one of those games where the result could have gone either way right up to the end. Aurora had their chances but did not finish them with any real clarity, while the side from the north of the city was more clinical in their moments of precision.

Saúl Sotomayor was the difference-maker for Villa del Parque. The 21-year-old attacking midfielder (rating 7.7) set the pace for the visitors with a maturity that is surprising for someone so young, the sort of quiet but effective performance that marks out the best. At the back, Román Acosta (23 years old, 7.5) put in a solid shift in the visitors' defence, cutting out passing lanes with confidence. Víctor Lucero, the 33-year-old defensive midfielder, was the anchor Villa del Parque needed in the middle, although he picked up a yellow for his trademark intensity, the kind that gives nothing away. Ángel Vecchio on the right wing (30 years old, 7.3) caused danger out wide, while Genaro Riccardi held things together well on the left.

For Aurora, Pichu Valdés was the one who tried hardest to break through the visitors' defence. The 32-year-old striker scored his goal but it was not enough to rescue any points. The veteran from Patagonia did what he could, pressing and looking to link play, but Aurora failed to find the necessary penetration in attack. It was a match Villa del Parque deserved to win for their efficiency, not for their dominance. Aurora are left frustrated, having had chances but not the composure to put them away.
