Vesubio de Recoleta0 - 1Sociedad San Cristóbal

Sociedad San Cristóbal took a deserved win in Recoleta, in a match where both teams played with structure but the visitors were sharper when it mattered. Vesubio's balanced 4-4-2 formation failed to contain San Cristóbal's attacks, with the visitors setting up in the same shape but executing it better. Yoel Domínguez's goal, aged twenty, was the difference in a game where the defences were prominent but where one of the two back lines failed in the build-up from the back. Joel Drago at right-back for Vesubio was booked for his attempt to hold firm, while Ariel Abud did his bit on the other side but could not change the course of the match. Nazareno Azpiroz, the holding midfielder of just seventeen who Vesubio brought in from Comodoro Rivadavia, tried to keep things organised, but his youth told under pressure.

San Cristóbal showed attacking maturity. Cris Raffaeli, their twenty-two-year-old centre-back, was the undisputed standout with a 7.7 rating, acting as a solid defender who also took part in the build-up. Tato Bianco on the left wing (7.4) was incisive, while Lucio Braun, the Brazilian midfielder on 7.2, controlled the tempo intelligently. Adrián Saud at right-back also added to both defence and attack despite the yellow card he received.

The result was tight, as you'd expect between two teams who went at it from the start. Vesubio had their chances but lacked precision in the final third. San Cristóbal, by contrast, took their chance through Domínguez. First matchday, three points for the visitors who are already feeling at home in the tournament. For Vesubio, there is analysis to be done and defensive details to be corrected that proved costly.
