Atlético Palermo Hollywood FC claimed a deserved victory in Constitución, where General Pueyrredón failed to maintain the pace demanded by an opponent who knew how to take its chances. The final 2-1 score reflected a tight match between two teams that set up in similar formations, both in a 4-4-2, but in which the visitors were more clinical when it mattered. Claudio Navarro and Nene Triboldi were the scorers for the Palermo Hollywood side, while Thiago Tello pulled one back for the hosts with a good performance that included a yellow card.
The match was one of those in which both teams created chances without ever dominating overwhelmingly. Luciano Cerda, the 19-year-old goalkeeper who came through in Comodorio Rivadavia, made a number of important saves, but his team did not need a heroic defensive effort. Uriel Liebman, the 22-year-old central midfielder, controlled areas of midfield with composure, while Aaron López, the 32-year-old Bahía Blanca centre-back with a rating of 7.5, was a rock in the visitors’ defence. At the other end, Thiago Tello tried to create danger from the left wing and scored the consolation goal for the Pueyrredón side, although it was not enough to prevent his team-mates from struggling defensively.
The defeat leaves General Pueyrredón in an uncomfortable position in Primera I of GBA Oeste. The home side had the match there to win but lacked precision when it mattered most, while the visitors capitalised on their mistakes. Atlético Palermo Hollywood leave Constitución with three valuable points and confirmation that their squad, supplemented by veterans such as the Chilean Navarro and youngsters coming through like Liebman and Cerda, can compete on equal terms with anyone in this division.
