Círculo La Boca1 - 0Juventud San Cristóbal

Círculo La Boca claimed a hard-fought win against Juventud San Cristóbal on matchday 11 of Primera L de GBA Norte, in a match where both sides came out with similar approaches but the home side ended up being more clinical at the moments that mattered. The 1-0 was fair in the context of a tight encounter, with no great spaces or attacking extravagance, where the difference came down to details and the home side’s ability to defend its lead once it had been earned.

Bauti Anchorena, the 34-year-old playmaker who has been around the game for decades, was one of Círculo La Boca’s standout performers with a 7.7 rating, pulling the strings from midfield and giving rhythm to a side that needed patience. Lucho Mazza on the right also had a fine outing with the same mark, carrying danger down the flank when the away defence left gaps. Lionel Pratto, a 22-year-old full-back, did his job without any alarms on his side. At the other end, Nahuel Saliba in Juventud San Cristóbal’s back line had to work hard, but the 6.3 rating reflects a solid display, if without any brilliance. Rodolfo Villegas was more subdued on the visitors’ right, and picked up a yellow card without being able to create much danger going forward.

Pedro Garay, the 34-year-old striker in the home shirt, scored the goal that decided the fixture, though he also picked up a yellow card along the way. For Juventud San Cristóbal, there was the feeling of a match in which they never managed to impose their game; defensively they were set up well, but in attack they lacked clarity. The closing stages in GBA Norte are smiling on Círculo La Boca for now, as they strengthened their position with a victory that felt more significant for what it prevented than for what it produced.
