Federación Liniers2 - 2Vet. Saavedra

Federación Liniers and Veteranos de Saavedra played out a match in which a draw was the fairest result. Two teams with similar approaches, both lining up in a 4-4-2 with a balanced mentality, set out to play an end-to-end contest without either side ultimately taking control. The final 2-2 on matchday nine of Primera I of GBA Oeste reflected an even encounter in which the goals came naturally, as if both defences were destined to suffer from the outset.

Alberto Guevara was Liniers’ driving force in midfield. The barely 20-year-old central midfielder scored a goal and provided an assist, looking comfortable distributing the ball from the middle, although he also picked up a yellow card that will weigh on him in the coming fixtures. Gabriel Buonocore, the 26-year-old Bahian centre-back who already knows these tournaments well, also added a goal from the back. For the visitors, Cristian Gallardo opened the scoring from left-back, while Tincho Rosati, the midfielder who came through on the pitches of Resistencia, also found the net. Both teams showed attacking ability, but neither could put the match to bed, with the contest remaining open until the final whistle.

The interesting thing was that both squads battled without giving anything away. Gustavo Plaza, in Saavedra’s defence, was booked but did not lose his composure, remaining alert. The balance was such that the point distributes responsibility: Liniers let a home win slip away, while Saavedra did not know how to win away from home. In a division that demands consistency, these draws can prove more frustrating than rewarding, although in terms of good football, the match delivered on its promise.
