Sportivo San Rafael
0 - 1Club Tucumán Centro
Match report
Club Tucumán Centro took all three points from San Rafael in a match where both approaches were similar, but efficiency made the difference. The away side seized a chance during the course of the game to score the goal that settled the fixture, while Sportivo San Rafael failed to make the most of their efforts at the opposition goal. It was a fair result in a Primera H - GBA Norte where neither side produced overwhelmingly good football, but enough to keep the tactical balance intact for much of the match.
Both sides lined up in a 4-4-2 and with a balanced mindset, which promised a tight, battling game in midfield. So it proved. Club Tucumán Centro managed the tempo patiently and did not allow the pressure of being away from home to affect them. The Tucumán forwards were more clinical in their key moments, and that proved decisive. Sportivo San Rafael had their chances but could not convert them; that was the story of an afternoon where a lack of precision in the final third cost them dear. Both teams were solid defensively, with no major scares, though with enough tension to keep the match open right until the end.
For Sportivo San Rafael, this home defeat at the start of the season is a blow to morale that must be digested quickly. Playing at home brings responsibility, and today they could not capitalise on that advantage. Club Tucumán Centro, meanwhile, leaves with a result that speaks to their tactical solidity and efficiency. These points won away from home on matchday one are pure gold in any competition. It remains to be seen how San Rafael will respond in the upcoming fixtures.
