Atlético Mendoza FC0 - 2Defensores de Concepción

Defensores de Concepción arrived in Mendoza and left with all three points in the bag. A comprehensive 2-0 that reflected the difference in purpose between two teams who, on paper, lined up with identical formations but had very different intentions. Atlético Mendoza FC never found a way to trouble their visitors in what was a bittersweet debut for the home side in this Primera H of the northern GBA zone.

It was a scrappy match, one of those fixtures where tactical clarity is nowhere to be seen. Defensores de Concepción knew how to manage their energy, waited for the spaces left by an Atlético Mendoza side that was far too predictable in its movements and, when the opportunity came, did not miss. The goals arrived at different stages of the match, showing that there was a plan working for the visitors, an efficiency the home side could never replicate. The balanced mentality of both sides barely produced an exciting match; it was more an exercise in containment than a genuine attacking proposition.

What became clear is that Atlético Mendoza need urgent adjustments if they want to compete seriously in this zone. The home side lacked penetration in the final third and their attempts to build play were predictable. For Defensores de Concepción, meanwhile, this away victory is the perfect starting point: three valuable points on the road always carry extra weight, especially on the opening matchday, when psychological momentum sets the tone for an entire campaign. The side from Concepción leave satisfied, with the certainty that when they focused on the defensive side of the game, Mendoza had no answers.
