Sportivo Rosario Sur4 - 2
Atlético Virrey del Pino
Match report
Sportivo Rosario Sur left no room for doubt on the opening matchday of Primera H - GBA Norte. The home side ran riot against Atlético Virrey del Pino with a convincing 4-2 that reflected the difference in approach between the two sides. Although both squads came out with the same tactical shape on the pitch, the hosts found the spaces to do damage and finished with greater efficiency. The visitors could never contain the pace and dynamism shown by the Rosario side, who made the most of their chances in a display that lets them start with a strong footing in the competition.
The match had the expected rhythm for an opening matchday, with both teams looking to impose their game from the outset. Sportivo Rosario Sur managed the tempo better, finding routes down the flanks and creating numerical advantages in midfield. The four goals came without much drama; it was simply a side that knew where to strike. Atlético Virrey del Pino had their moments, even scoring twice to give themselves hope at one stage, but a lack of defensive consistency and specific mistakes in the build-up shut the door on them. When the home side stepped up the pressure, the visitors' resistance collapsed without too much trouble.
For Sportivo Rosario Sur, this win built on efficiency is a fine calling card for what lies ahead. The tactical balance they set up paid dividends and they did not suffer any major complications. On the other side, Atlético Virrey del Pino will have to take a long, hard look at what happened. The defeat is emphatic, though there are still matches ahead in which to put things right. Primera H has only just begun and surprises may yet appear, but for now the difference was clear.
