Liga Núñez3 - 2Aurora de Villa Devoto

Liga Núñez claimed a thrilling 3-2 home win against Aurora de Villa Devoto in a matchday 4 fixture that had everything: goals, tempo, two identical formations seeking the same thing, and the balance broken only by the finest margins. Both squads lined up in a 4-4-2 with a balanced mentality, producing an open game in which the forwards had room to work. The home side made better use of that circumstance than the visitors, although Aurora never threw in the towel.

Esteban Scopelliti was the undisputed star with his two goals. The thirty-one-year-old forward had one of those nights when experience and reading of the game make the difference: an 8.1 rating that was justified in every movement. Dante Zumpano, the thirty-three-year-old central midfielder, played his part with a goal that temporarily sealed the victory. For the visitors, Benjamín Palomino replied with a goal and an assist, showing that Aurora’s attacking threat remained intact. Negro Sacchi, a twenty-four-year-old centre-back, also got on the scoresheet, but it was not enough to prevent defeat. Both were booked in a match where the intensity never dropped.

What stood out was Liga Núñez keeping their composure during the spells when Aurora were pressing. It was not an overwhelming display but rather a sound management of their resources, particularly in defence with Lucca Gil at left-back and in midfield, where eighteen-year-old youngster Bruno Wieczorek played without the slightest complex. The visitors were left with the bitter feeling of having been in the game but being unable to close the gaps. In a tight area such as western Buenos Aires province, these goal-filled matches quickly decide positions. Liga Núñez took three valuable points; Aurora will have to regroup and look for revenge.
