Vet. Saavedra0 - 0CR Parque Patricios

Veteranos de Saavedra and CR Parque Patricios shared the points in an uneventful encounter, with both teams prioritising defensive shape over any real intention to break through. The 0-0 was a fair reflection of two squads who went out with a balanced mentality and a 4-4-2 formation, abandoning any attempt at a tactical surprise early on. On matchday four of Primera I GBA Oeste, the match unfolded like those fixtures where both managers leave the stadium happier about what did not happen than about what did.

Saavedra found their most dynamic options out wide in Joaquín Corona and Tincho Rosati, although neither managed to create any real danger from the flanks. Corona, a 24-year-old midfielder with a 7.1 rating, tried to link up on the right but his crosses found no taker. In defence, Mauricio Naranjo held firm in the home side’s back line despite picking up a yellow card late in the match. Up front, Maximiliano Vecchi and Elián Navarro, both around thirty, failed to show the presence that experience ought to give them; the Paraguayan striker had barely any clear chances and his rating of 7 summed up a grey evening. Navarro, wearing the playmaker’s shirt at thirty, likewise could not find the space to make a difference.

For Parque Patricios, Galo Arnaldi was one of the match’s few bright spots. The barely eighteen-year-old left-back, with a 7.1 rating, moved with freshness on the left and was perhaps the player most willing to take risks in the final third, although his attempts failed to bear fruit either. Ezequiel Rotondi, the veteran thirty-year-old striker, had little to work with in a front line that never genuinely put the opposition under pressure. The result leaves Saavedra with a home point and Parque Patricios with the feeling that they kept things under control without any scares. Management football, with no risks. For some, prudence; for others, mediocrity.
