Deportivo Constitución Veteranos took a win that they managed intelligently against Def. San Cristóbal Centro in a match where both sides proposed similar systems but with clear differences in execution. The final 2-1 neatly sums up what happened on the pitch: a tight game, with no great spaces, where the fine margins made the difference and the home side made the most of playing at home to take the three points on matchday 5 of the Primera L - GBA Oeste.
Felipe Santini was the architect of the home victory. The Chilean attacking midfielder did not have a spectacular afternoon in terms of rating, but he scored the goal that tipped the balance and that, in these evenly matched fixtures, is what matters. At the back, Zacarías Jiménez, at 37, remains a guarantee on the right flank, while Joel Hidalgo in the centre of defence did his job without any major alarms. Diogo Silvestre in goal did not have to pull off miracles either, but his presence is reassuring. For the visitors, Pepe Dabrowski pulled one back with a goal that caused a stir in the second half, but without being able to force a decisive equaliser. Tito Argento, a full-back with less experience, provided an assist but could not prevent Constitución Veteranos from consolidating control of the game.
The match was another test that there are no easy opponents in this league. San Cristóbal Centro did not come to make up the numbers nor go down without a fight, but they lacked a little in the final metres, that precision these tight games require. Constitución Veteranos take three valuable points that keep them in the mix at the top end, while the visitors will have to regroup quickly with the next matchday in mind.
