Match report

Mutual Liniers made full use of home advantage from the off to set the tempo against Real Mataderos Reservas in a match where the difference in finishing proved decisive early on. With both sides set up in a balanced 4-4-2 system, the home team managed to find space out wide that the visitors' defence could not consistently shut down. Real Mataderos came with the intention of competing, but lacked clarity in transition and precision at the moments when they had chances to hurt their opponents. Lionel Mendoza in the Liniers goal had hardly any work to do in the first half, a sign that the home side controlled the game well without needing to suffer too much.

The home defenders worked solidly. Santiago Valdés, at 35, showed why he remains a reference point in the Liniers back line: anticipation, positioning, and when needed he also contributed going forward by scoring one of the afternoon's goals. Lisandro Mazza, at the other centre-back spot, provided clear marking, while at full-back Nazareno Halim and Raúl Matos carried out attacking duties without neglecting their defensive responsibilities. Matos, the right-back, also got on the scoresheet. Santi Zardini tried to organise the visiting defence, but Liniers' intensity in the opening minutes overwhelmed him, especially down the flanks where the home side created constant danger. Enrique Rebollo on Mataderos' right wing had a difficult match, permanently harried by the opposition's movement.

What set Mutual Liniers apart was their ability to turn the chances they created into goals. Without exact details of how the three goals came about, the reality is that efficiency was the hallmark of the home afternoon. The visiting side found no cracks in Liniers' defensive block and when they tried to press forward they were left too exposed. Dylan Pessina, the 24-year-old striker carrying the attacking responsibility for Mataderos, could do little against a defence that gave him no room to manoeuvre. The home side's transitions were timely but decisive, taking advantage of moments when the Mataderos reserves were left disorganised in retreat.

The overall picture of the afternoon heavily favoured Liniers. Real Mataderos did not have a bright afternoon, though they also made no glaring mistakes beyond certain spells when the home pressure forced hurried decisions. The tactical difference was slight, with both sides well structured, but Mutual Liniers turned home advantage into a tangible edge from the first minute. Three-nil is a hefty scoreline in Primera L del GBA Oeste and faithfully reflects how the match unfolded: an efficient home side that showed no mercy, and a visiting side that never really troubled them. For Liniers, three vital points on matchday four keep them in the hunt. For Mataderos, it was an afternoon to review on video and correct what they showed on the rival pitch.
