Club de Villa Crespo Este came away with a deserved victory in difficult territory. At C. y Barrio Retiro's pitch, on matchday four of the Primera L de GBA Oeste, the visitors imposed their game plan in a tightly contested fixture, but one in which the Villa Crespo Este side knew how to be more clinical when it mattered. The final 2-1 scoreline reflects what happened: two tactically astute teams, both opting for balance with their 4-4-2, but Villa Crespo Este ended up converting their chances while the home side was left with the bitterness of a defeat that could have been avoided.
Galo Hidalgo opened the scoring for the hosts, putting in a good performance from the right wing with a rating of 7.2. The 29-year-old attacker, with that Patagonian steel that defines him, scored the goal that put C. y Barrio Retiro in front. However, Villa Crespo Este's response was emphatic. Eduardo Ponce, the 18-year-old forward who recently joined the club after being spotted in a friendly down south, was lethal with his finish. The youngster from Comodoro Rivadavia took advantage of the space left by the home defence and equalised, with a rating of 7.2 and showing that his arrival at the side makes sense. Pichi De Luca, Villa Crespo Este's left winger, completed the comeback. De Luca, also with a rating of 7.2, sealed the decisive 2-1 for the visitors.
Joel Arichabaleta was the one driving the home side's build-up, with an assist from left midfield and a rating of 6.5. The 29-year-old midfielder, with the experience of someone who grew up playing on the rough pitches of his neighbourhood, did what he could to keep C. y Barrio Retiro afloat, but his team did not have the defensive reactions required. Polaco Benítez, just a 17-year-old youngster at left-back for Villa Crespo Este, put in a standout display with a rating of 7.7, showing that there is quality new blood at the Villa Crespo club. Miguel Rossini, the visitors' centre-back, picked up a yellow card but generally kept his defensive composure.
The tactical balance favoured the Villa Crespo Este side, which from a balanced mentality knew how to exploit the space left by a C. y Barrio Retiro side that pressed but made timing errors. Jeremías Lera, the 19-year-old left-footed goalkeeper who is also two-footed, had to do his job but the visitors were more effective in both boxes. C. y Barrio Retiro are left with the feeling that they gave more than they received, while Villa Crespo Este, with that class shown by their young stars and the experienced De Luca and Rossini, take home three priceless points away from home.
