Match report
Deportivo Mataderos Veteranos left nothing to chance on matchday 17 of Primera I de GBA Sur. With a balanced 4-4-2 set-up, the home side swept aside Círculo Parque Avellaneda with a 3-0 victory that laid bare the clear gap between the two squads. From the outset, the Mataderos side imposed a tempo the visitors never managed to match, despite also lining up with a similar structure of four defenders and midfielders spread wide. The home superiority was emphatic: while Círculo scarcely created any dangerous situations, the hosts executed each attack that came their way with precision.
The goals came with authority. Cacho Castaño, the right winger of just sixteen, scored one of his goals on an afternoon when Mataderos' youngsters showed they are coming through strongly. Lucho Bruno, the centre-back born in Comodoro Rivadavia and twenty-one years old, also netted, which shows how the home team blended a solid defence with attacking threat from every line. Noé Castiglione, the Colombian centre-back aged twenty-five, picked up a yellow card but kept the defensive structure intact, while Genaro Anzorena in goal also went into the book without compromising his performance. Liam Arazandi, the Argentine central midfielder aged eighteen, moved the ball around without fuss on a day when Mataderos controlled every aspect of the match.
For Círculo Parque Avellaneda it was a match that exposed their limitations. Zaid Meyer in defence and Leonel Zenatti at left-back did what they could, but goalkeeper Sandro De Angelis had little to do other than pick the ball out of the back of the net. The visitors found no space, created no real danger and left Mataderos empty-handed after a match where the difference in execution was as obvious as the final score. For the winners, three comfortable points that put them in the mix at the top; for the losers, just another matchday in search of turning around a run that refuses to improve.
