Match report

Atlético Haedo came out on top under psychologically away conditions against La Mansión FC in a match that revolved entirely around the home side’s ability to sustain attacking intensity for ninety minutes. With a 4-2-3-1 shape and a clearly attacking mindset, the Haedo side came to the west side with the intention of not yielding ground, and although the away team set up with a balanced 4-3-3, it was the home side who controlled the rhythm of the contest. The result, a 2-1 that speaks of a deserved win in a tight match, sums up an afternoon in which neither side gave anything away but Atlético Haedo executed its key moments better.

The home side’s attacking mindset was evident from the outset. Máximo Sarmiento, the left winger who carries stories of Mendoza’s dirt pitches in his soul, was decisive down his flank, creating numerical superiority in attacks that found Cristian Ferrari as the link in the creative area. The Corrientes midfielder, 25, turned in a 7.5 performance, which speaks to his ability to orchestrate play between the lines. La Mansión FC, for its part, sought balance through the defensive work of Valentín Lautaro, the 26-year-old holding midfielder who read the game with that distinctive quality often seen in players from the south, anticipating the opposition’s movements. Despite his 6.5 rating, he was an important factor in containing the home side’s impetus for much of the first half.

The goals came in a match where both sides had their moments. Joaquín Lo Celso, the 28-year-old striker from San Justo who scored one of the visitors’ goals, showed his ability to stay alert in the key areas even if his 7.2 rating did not reflect a top-level display. La Mansión FC found the net thanks to an assist from Valentín Lautaro from midfield, picking out the centre-forward as he made the most of a gap between the centre-backs. However, Atlético Haedo did not give in. Gabriel Castro, the 23-year-old Bahía Blanca centre-back who brings personality to matches, produced a 7.7 display in defence, which indicates solidity at the back. Santiago Fernández, the Mendoza left-back who has that knack of deciding matches in the closing stages, was key in the final third in underlining the home side’s efforts.

The Haedo side scored its two goals at moments when the home pressure became irresistible. Pocho Pellegrino, the 21-year-old right-sided midfielder born in Merlo, took part in the build-up play that led to the home goals, with a 7.5 rating that reflects his good performance from midfield forwards. Atlético Haedo’s ability to maintain attacking volume without neglecting defensive solidity proved to be the difference in a match where La Mansión FC could not sustain the same level of intensity in the closing minutes. The win, deserved according to the match analysis, leaves the home side with sound reasons to keep competing in Primera E de GBA Oeste on this sixth matchday.
