Match report
AD Recoleta earned a deserved victory in a tight match against Aurora de Villa Devoto on the sixth matchday of Primera I of GBA Oeste. Jonathan Mariño’s goal was enough for the home side to take all three points in a game where both squads opted for balanced football in a 4-4-2 formation, with no major tactical differences to shape the course of the contest. The result accurately reflected what was seen on the pitch: an intense match with no space given away, where finishing ultimately proved decisive.
The striker Mariño, just twenty-one years old, made the difference on an afternoon when AD Recoleta looked more solid in defence and more dangerous in attack. Leonel Zella, an eighteen-year-old central midfielder with a 7.7 rating, was a constant presence in the middle of the pitch, while Ramiro Morales at left-back and the centre-back pairing of Ramón Cisneros and Marcelo Zanini kept the Recoleta rearguard firm. Zanini was booked during the match but was never a major concern. Aurora de Villa Devoto offered little attacking depth: Genaro Tagliaferri, already in the twilight of his career at thirty-seven, tried unsuccessfully to create danger down the right, while seventeen-year-old Milton Saliba found no space to cause problems.
For AD Recoleta, this victory strengthens their progress in the tournament and reaffirms that the team has the tools to compete. For Aurora, the defeat leaves work to do in attack: with a midfielder such as Liam Bilbao doing a steady job but not exceeding a 6.6 rating, and forwards who have yet to click, the visiting side must improve their finishing if they want to challenge in the tournament.
