Cooperativa San Telmo2 - 3Def. Agronomía Centro

Cooperativa San Telmo took a blow at home in what should have been a fortress. Def. Agronomía Centro left La Matanza with three points that nobody could dispute, despite the 2-3 that suggests an open match where the home side had their chances but could not see it through. It was a thriller full of goals, yes, but also of inaccuracies. Both teams played with evenly matched line-ups — balanced 4-4-2s — and that showed: a match without major tactical differences, where individual quality ultimately decided more than the set-ups.

Mirko Zurita and Liam Baldini scored for San Telmo, with the seventeen-year-old lad from Mendoza showing he has potential. Jeremías Trevisan from midfield played a cross that was worth its weight in gold in the home side's build-up. But at the other end, Def. Agronomía Centro had too many attacking weapons. Sergio Pessina and Pichi Merlo netted two goals that were enough, while Yair Spinelli, with that streetwise experience of a youngster who grew up playing in the streets of Comodoro, got the third that sealed the match. Gino Baciocchi, just nineteen years old, turned in a 7.7 display: that lad from the outskirts who arrived at Agronomía Centro almost by chance ended up being the defensive anchor San Telmo could not quite break down. Valentín Romagnoli in the visitors' back line was a wall, with that solidity that marks out centre-halves who play without surprises but without mistakes.

San Telmo do not deserve to be left out of the fight, but these home points dropped carry weight. The home side had the match to win, especially in the first half where Baldini and Zurita were creating danger. Faustino Aguirre put in a cross from the flank that almost paid off. But Def. Agronomía Centro were more clinical: they took their chances and went away with the victory. Matchday 8 of Primera I in GBA Sur, and San Telmo already know that these home setbacks could make the chase harder if they do not react quickly.
