Social y Deportivo Bernal
0 - 1
El Fortín de Berazategui
Match report
El Fortín de Berazategui claimed a fair victory on the debut of both sides in Primera F - GBA Sur, winning 1-0 away to Social y Deportivo Bernal with an organised and efficient display. Benicio Modarelli finished inside the Bernal area, scoring the goal that proved the difference in a match where neither team produced spectacular football, but where the visitors were sharper when it mattered. Both sides lined up in a 4-4-2 shape and with balanced mentality, which led to a tight contest, with few spaces for either to gain a clear territorial edge.
Bernal showed willingness but lacked cutting edge. Faustino Wagner, the 32-year-old goalkeeper who joined the club almost by chance years ago, did not have a difficult match, though he was alert when needed. The centre-backs Iñaki Beizama, the 16-year-old youngster who is only just establishing himself in this category, and his defensive teammates had to work hard to nullify Modarelli’s attacks and right-back Mariano Gallego, who was active going forward. Bauti Sironi, the 29-year-old home striker, found no clear spaces and ended up on a yellow card in a match where Bernal had their chances but failed to take them.
For the Fortín, Luciano Taveggia in goal was solid, with a 7.3 rating that reflects his assurance. Ramón Gauto in central defence was one of the visitors’ standout performers, reading the game clearly, while Eric Macías at left-back contributed an assist for the goal that proved decisive. Berazategui’s midfield functioned and the full-backs carried out their duties well. It was a match where the visiting side was more efficient in execution, deserving of the win in a debut that bodes well for the season ahead.
