Club Atlético Avellaneda Sur
0 - 1Ferro Villa Crespo
Match report
Ferro Villa Crespo made the most of playing away from home to claim a narrow but deserved victory at Atlético Avellaneda Sur’s stadium. The final 1-0 scoreline summed up an afternoon in which both teams approached the match in similar fashion, with two balanced 4-4-2 formations producing a tight game without excessive space, where clinical finishing was the difference. The visitors’ goal came in circumstances the home side could not deal with in time, and from that moment onwards the away side knew how to manage the result with defensive solidity.
The match unfolded in the manner that usually characterises these Primera H encounters in the southern GBA area: plenty of hard work, few concessions, and possession that did not necessarily translate into danger. Atlético Avellaneda Sur tried to create openings down the wings, looking to reach the opposition penalty area through combination play, but Ferro Villa Crespo set up with a compact defence that closed down the spaces effectively. The midfielders in both formations played a fundamental role in disrupting the opposition’s flow, limiting the number of clear-cut chances.
For the home side, this defeat at home represents a significant blow in the table on matchday 3. Atlético Avellaneda Sur will have to review what worked poorly and why they were unable to neutralise an away approach that, without being spectacular, proved decisive. Ferro Villa Crespo, meanwhile, leave with a valuable reward: three away points that put them in a strong position in the battle for the top places. A result that reflects the footballing saying that sometimes the winner is the team you least expect, because in today’s football the difference lies in the details, and yesterday those details were green.
