Sociedad Villa Lugano2 - 0Tandilocuentes Unidos

Sociedad Villa Lugano beat Defensores de San Cristóbal Oeste clearly in a match where the home side’s superiority was reflected on the scoreboard: 2-0. It was a comfortable victory, the sort of result that settles nerves in the Primera I - GBA Sur table. Both teams looked for balance from the off, with 4-4-2 shapes that promised an even game, but Villa Lugano found the visitor’s weaknesses more consistently and knew how to exploit them whenever needed.

Eduardo Sevilla opened the scoring for the home side with a goal that sums up the match: opportunism in favourable territory. The 20-year-old striker from Mendoza, who arrived at Villa Lugano almost by chance, showed a sharp eye for goal when it mattered most. In midfield, the balance came through Leonel Bastianelli, the 26-year-old midfielder from Quilmes who, with a rating of 7.5, moved without fuss but with efficiency. The left wing also contributed: Negro Figueroa, that 21-year-old winger from Merlo who grew up among metalwork and neighbourhood walls, was an important factor in the home side’s attacking pressure. Edu Conti handled the defence from right-back without problems, while Defensores de San Cristóbal Oeste could scarcely put together any clear response. Mirko Meneses, the 18-year-old Brazilian goalkeeper for the visiting side, had little to do but answered when called upon; Diego Ibarra and Federico Arazandi, defenders with experience but limited in this match, could do nothing to contain the flow from the opposition.

The second goal came naturally, confirming what was already visible on the pitch. For Villa Lugano, three points that strengthen their position in the northern section of the table. For Defensores, there is still work to do on a defence that yesterday was porous and an attack that never found its rhythm.
