Match report
Federación Pompeya and El Vencedor de Montserrat shared the points in a match where both set out in the same way but neither managed to break the balance established from the first minute. The final 1-1 neatly sums up what happened on the pitch: two teams set up in a 4-4-2 formation with a balanced mentality, willing to give nothing away but not to take excessive risks either. Ricardo Bauer opened the scoring for the home side with a goal that seemed to be steering victory towards Pompeya, but Elías Zunino levelled the scores and made sure there would be no winner on matchday 14 of Primera L - GBA Oeste.
Bauer, the 21-year-old striker with a 7.2 rating, was the most effective in the first half of the pitch, although his influence waned as the match went on. Zunino, his counterpart for the visitors with the same rating, made better use of his chances when they came. At the back, Federación Pompeya maintained its solidity with its full-backs: Seba Soriano, the 30-year-old veteran who has spent eight seasons at the club, and Dylan Milos on the right flank. Ignacio Branca on the left showed flashes of quality but was booked, which limited his attacking contribution. Visiting midfielder Joaco Bastianelli, who had just turned 23, tried to create an imbalance on the right without much success.
The draw leaves Federación Pompeya unable to celebrate at home, which in this competitive context always carries weight. El Vencedor de Montserrat takes a point away from home that is not badly earned, although it does not warrant any special celebration either. Branca completed the assist for Pompeya's goal and was decisive in some actions, with a 5.9 rating, below expectations. Both squads did their job, but neither side gave the sense it deserved to take all three points. A fair result for two teams that cancelled each other out.
