From Season 3: every player ages by one year per season

Time is on your side: how the football clock changes in ELDT

From Season 3, time in ELDT moves differently. Players will age by one year per season (every 105 days), instead of every 46 days as before. It sounds technical, but the difference is huge: what you build with a player will now pay off for almost twice as long, and your academy will burst into life with more prospects ready for the first team.

Why does it matter? Because today a 19-year-old youngster retires in under three real years. With this change, you’ll have almost six years to enjoy their full career. That means your work developing youngsters finally makes sense: they grow faster (3.5% weekly of whatever they still need to reach their potential), can be promoted from 17 if they have a good overall, and once you bring them up from the academy, they’ll be much more valuable because they’ve got plenty of time to keep improving.

The academy you always wanted

The simulation speaks for itself: under these new rules, almost three times as many players will move up to the first team each year. That means your academy stops being a frustrating experiment and becomes your proper factory for top-class players. That said, there’s a new rule: if, after promotions, your squad goes above 50 players, you’ll have seven days to sell or release the surplus. If you don’t, the system will automatically release the player with the lowest overall, with no pay-off, until everything is back in order.

Training still works exactly the same: each week your players improve as much as they do now. The magic is that, because they age more slowly, they reach much higher levels in their careers. Older players are adjusted to the new clock too: years still count the same as ever, but decline and retirement (between 38 and 40 years old) are recalibrated for the longer seasons.

All of this kicks in when Season 3 begins. Until the end of Season 2, the game carries on under today’s rules. If you’re not playing ELDT yet, this is the perfect time to get involved. If you already are, get ready: the way you train, build your academy and plan careers is about to change for good.
