Primera Nacional (second tier), Zone B: matchday 17

Defensores de Ensenada are still setting the pace in the division, handing Sportivo Necochea a heavier defeat than anyone expected: a painful 3-0. That takes them to 32 points and puts them top, although Sportivo Necochea remain right in the hunt on 31 and still have plenty of experience in the tank. The interesting thing is that several sides are involved in the promotion battle, and anyone can spring a surprise on any matchday.

Defensores de Olavarría moved closer with a narrow win over Defensores de Pehuajó, 2-1, and are now third on 30 points, breathing down the leaders' necks. Sportivo Bahía Blanca also battled to victory against Sportivo Roque Pérez, 1-0, taking them to 29 points and into the promotion mix. Nobody gives you anything in this division: every point counts.

There was not much change in the middle of the table. Atlético Campana drew 0-0 with Atlético Magdalena but moved to 27 points and remain in a qualifying place. Atlético La Plata also played out a goalless draw against Sportivo City Bell, while Club Chascomús had to settle for a draw with Defensores de Dolores. Defensores de Las Flores did pick up a good result by beating Sportivo Brandsen 2-1, and Club Punta Alta put in a strong performance to beat Club Berisso 2-0.

The next matchday looks set to be a lively one at the top, so keep an eye on how it all unfolds.
