Primera Nacional Zona B: Matchday 16 round-up

Matchday 16 in Zona B of the Primera Nacional, the second tier, reached boiling point in Olavarría, where Defensores de Olavarría suffered a historic 4-0 thrashing at the hands of Sportivo Bahía Blanca. A painful one, too: the Olavarría side had been third in the table and were left reeling by that hammering. Meanwhile, Sportivo Necochea remain top on 31 points after securing a 1-1 draw against Sportivo Brandsen — enough to preserve their lead, although they could not extend it.

There were some good games elsewhere on the matchday. Atlético Campana edged Club Chascomús 3-2 in an entertaining contest, while Defensores de Ensenada beat Defensores de Dolores 1-0 to strengthen their grip on second place with 29 points. Defensores de Las Flores pulled off a 2-1 away win at Sportivo Roque Pérez, and Club Berisso enjoyed a memorable night with a 2-0 victory over Defensores de Pehuajó.

Atlético La Plata FC rounded off the matchday with a 2-1 win over Atlético Magdalena, while Club Punta Alta suffered a 1-0 defeat against Sportivo City Bell and remain without a point. The next matchday promises more of the same, with these sides all looking to join the promotion race at the top, where Necochea remain firmly in charge.
