What the fixture list and a matchday are in football

The fixture list is a competition's full calendar: who plays whom on each matchday. A matchday (or round) is each set of games in which every team plays once.

The fixture list is the schedule of a league season. Each matchday is a full round: in a 16-team league every matchday has 8 matches and everyone plays once. In a double round-robin each team meets all the others twice, home and away, which with 16 teams makes 30 matchdays.

In ELDT every league has 16 clubs playing each other home and away: 30 matchdays. They are played on Thursdays and Saturdays from 19:00 local time, in waves every 15 minutes, because each division has its own fixed kick-off. The line-up closes 15 minutes before each match.

A win is worth 3 points, a draw 1 and a defeat 0. Teams level on points are ranked by goal difference and then by goals scored. The full fixture list is in the Matchdays tab of the League section.
